Recreational Stipend Guidelines
2008 - 2009
For Children with Autism to Access Community/Recreational Activities

One of the primary purposes of our organization for individuals with autism is to obtain access to the community. In an attempt to provide support to the families and individuals, we would like to offer a limited stipend. This money could be used for any of the purposes listed.

Total Stipend Budget: $1,000 annually running June to June, with rollover up to $1,500

No Financial Qualifications

Stipend Limit: $150.00 per family per year

Increments: may be anywhere from $25-$150.00

Qualifying Uses
Any activity that will allow the individual with autism further access to activities outside of the home and in the community.

Activities can include but are not limited to:
Recreational Activities
Sporting Events
Memberships to clubs
Tuitions (parks activities, swimming, camps, leagues, gymnastics, etc.)

Community Access Examples
Movies
Bus Passes
Bowling
Museum
Restaurants
Attending Sporting Events
Participating in School Activities

Stipend monies can be used to hire additional aide to escort the individual with autism to the activities whether it be alone or with the entire family.

Requirements:
Activity Report: Must include how the money was used, how it benefited the individual and receipts.
(If receipts are not submitted, the family cannot request money again in the next fiscal year)

Must be a member of the Autism Society of McLean County, unless this is a school based stipend enabling an individual to join group activities associated with the school based program.
