The Bloomington-Normal Young Professional Kiwanis Club, will be hosting our 5th annual Autism Society of McLean County (ASMC) Garage Sale Fundraiser on Saturday, April 5th, 2014.

All proceeds from the garage sale will be given to ASMC for Autism Camp.

Here are the details:

  • The garage sale will be on Saturday, April 5th, 2014 from 7:00a to 2:30p @ the Crossroads Center, 310 Wylie Drive, Suite 466, Normal, IL (near Farm & Fleet and next to Wehrenberg Theaters)
  • The garage sale itself will be a “name your own price” garage sale – no listed prices. The goal is to sell each and every item.
  • All unsold donated items will be given to the Mission Mart, Home Sweet Home, ReStore, etc.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate garage-sale worthy items for the garage sale. If you’re interested in donating in advance of the garage sale please contact Craig Luchtefeld, at [email protected] or 309-319-6006. The more items donated, the more money we can raise, and the more kids we can send to camp!
  • We will have early drop-off on the following dates/times at the garage sale location:
    • Monday, March 31st from 5:00p – 7:00p
    • Wednesday, April 2nd from 5:00p – 7:00p
    • Friday, April 4th from 5:00p – 7:00p
    • We’ll have volunteers to help unload and sort your items.
  • If you have items you’d like to donate but cannot make one of the early drop-off dates, please contact Craig Luchtefeld at [email protected] or 309-319-6006 and we’ll work out a time to retrieve your items.
  • If you’d like to volunteer to help unload or sort items at any one of the early drop-off times, we’d very much appreciate the help! You can register to volunteer here: http://doodle.com/hemwtziybp5rw9kd.
  • If you’d like to make a monetary donation in lieu of donating garage sale items, we’d welcome the donation!

So, please, help us get the word out for this fundraising event and do some garage sale-ing!

Autism Awareness Month

Everyone knows someone with autism

The most recent statistic from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention states that 1 in 88 children have autism. That staggering statistic emphasizes how important it is that the central Illinois community becomes aware of the difficulties of living with autism. The Autism Society of McLean County provides imperative programming to people of all ages living with autism and families whose lives are affected by autism.

April is Autism Awareness month and the Autism Society of McLean County (ASMC) has planned a month packed full of events to raise awareness about autism.

About the Autism Society of McLean County

The Autism Society of McLean County is an all volunteer based group that strives to educate the central Illinois area about autism and fund programs that better the lives of individuals and families of those with autism. For more information, contact [email protected].

2013 ASMC Hero Run/Walk

It is that time a year again to sign up for our Annual Run/Walk for Autism. Our event will again be at Tipton Park on Saturday, September 21, 2013. The 5K run will be at 9 a.m., following the results of the run will be our Kids Fun Run at 11! The walk will be at 12. We hope that you will consider joining our event as it will benefit our local community and families that are impacted by autism.

This year our theme is "Hero Walk". We want to take the time to pay tribute to the many heros who touch the lives of our children and families. We especially want to honor one of our members who recently passed away. Jon Miskulin made a huge impact on our local autism community and his legacy of the HEAL foundation (Heroes Embracing Autistic Lives) continues to touch lives.

We again are hoping to raise $20,000. We need your support. Please consider joining the event and also helping us fundraise to better serve our community.
